Continuing to crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour making all our streets safer

  • Building on 662 new Police officers in Greater Manchester and making sure Bury gets its fair share so our community can feel safe.
  • Ensuring our police have the powers they need to tackle the crimes, that matter to you making Bury a safer place for everyone to live and work – including anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping, speeding and knife crime.
  • Championing women and girls by questioning Ministers on their plans to increase sentences against criminals who commit serious violent crimes against women.

Crime and anti-social behaviour affect everybody in Bury, Ramsbottom and Tottington. From littering and fly-tipping to serious criminal conduct such as knife crime and drug dealing we need to back our police, increasing their numbers and imposing tougher sentences for those who blight our communities.

I am using my experience of working in the criminal justice system for 16 years to work with the new leadership of Greater Manchester Police to ensure our new police officers are put on the beat and respond to the concerns of every village, street and individual within Bury North. As a councillor in our area for 9 years I know that we need better enforcement and penalties for fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour and I am campaigning to ensure Bury Council invest money in these services to provide residents with the protection and reassurance they deserve.
