Robert Jenrick joined us in Bury yesterday and made a very clear statement on the greenbelt. This is the full video that was filmed in Clarence Park and discusses the protection of the greenbelt.
He is clear that Bury Council need a local plan to provide the truly affordable housing our area needs, without destroying our precious greenbelt.
Bury Conservatives are committed to creating a Local Plan to ensure we get the houses we need without destroying the greenbelt. This will guarantee that we have a plan drawn up by local residents for local residents.
In reply to a written question, the Housing Minister stated:
"This Government is committed to protecting and enhancing the Green Belt and there are strong protections for Green Belt land provided in the National Planning Policy Framework. A local authority can alter the boundary of Green Belt land only in exceptional circumstances and where it can demonstrate that it has fully examined all other reasonable options for meeting its development need."
