Yesterday I was asked by the Leader of Bury Council, through a video posted on social media, to investigate his claim that the number of COVID-19 vaccines being given to Bury was being restricted and limited over the coming weeks and that this week they have been cut to 40% of what they can deliver.
These allegations are very serious and as such, I have asked questions both locally and nationally to establish the facts.
Through the NHS nationally and our local team here in Bury, who are administering the vaccine, I have been informed that the accusations contained within the Leader of Bury Councils statement posted yesterday at 5pm are categorically incorrect.
The NHS team have confirmed to me:
- Having spoken with Bury CCG colleagues yesterday (Tuesday 12th Jan), we are unaware of any supply issues in Bury.
- Within Bury, they have their 4th primary care network designated site at Ramsbottom Civic Hall going live this week.
- Furthermore, there is significant additional vaccine stock already planned for further deliveries to the existing sites next week
I am informed that the local vaccination effort is working at 'full pelt' and on course to vaccinate the top four priority groups by the end of February.
